You're All, like,  Yeah, sure, right... we heard THAT before. Embarassed 

But no 100 days to see how far I can get sounds great.  And I'm so inspired to see how well you ladies are doing!!!

My silence comes from not knowing what to do about my newly discovered Diabetes.  I would try to simply maintain my weight and the INSULIN (can we say FAT-STORING HORMONE?!!!??) kept turning everything into added pounds.

So I got all the way up to 249 Pounds And I swear I Had just HAD IT!!

Surfing the web I found a study out of Newcastle, England which says DIABETES can be completely reversed and CURED.  It all comes down to eating 600 calories a day for 8 weeks (or longer) and exercising.  I see that and I'm thinking, where have I seen a plan like THIS before?  The researchers said they were mimicking the diet after a gastric bypass (which has been known to reverse diabetes as an unplanned benefit) and with a little pondering, again, I think "I know a program very like this... or DO I?"  The researchers said that "only 5% to 10% of all people can handle the harshness of the diet that will get rid of diabetes."  Well, that's a challenge right there!!  

Well, here's the deal.  Yup.  I'm back.  I've been doing 600 calories (or less) for two weeks, and I've lost 22 pounds while in the middle putting six back on... That's 16 Total, so far.  The portions are larger but it's TWO meals at under 300 calories each.  Dinner is always a salad of lettuce and meat and Bleu Cheese dressing (so it's more like twenty bites, but in away that feels more satisfying).

So I'm STARTING at 233.1 Pounds

Yay.. I am so happy you are back.. Honey I know what you are talking about .. I am also up down all over the place.. I am doing this plan 10 bites or 600-800 calories also.. but how do you exercise.. wow I do not have enough energy.. I am going to do it but wow.. you are Amazing.. 16lbs..

16again, Glad you're back and congratulations on your weight loss! I'm confident that you can completely reverse the diabetes, but you can't eat crap so be careful.

It's so good to see you all still here. Thank you both for welcoming me back.

But of course the very day I commit I fail to follow through.

Is it me, not being able to handle the openness of expression? I seem to sabotage at the drop of a hat.

Anyway, if this is going to work, I MUST remain accountable: open, honest, and up-front.

I feel safe here, thanks to encouraging nature everyone has.

I guess my commitment must be equally that I will live by my diet AND that I will write the Truth of it everyday.

Totally good on the diet until after dinner at 7 p.m. by 8:30 I had returned to the refrigerator and had eaten 6 ounces of lobster (this is BEYOND dinner, mind you, and...) 2 ounces of lunch meat, and two tablespoons of peanut butter and three mini brownies. Gained 2 pounds.

Day 1 / 100 : 233 lbs
Day 2 / 100 : 235 lbs

If your issue is late day cravings, here's a tip/trick I use that works for me. I just tell myself "I'll cheat tomorrow." It's a lie, and even though I know it's a lie, for some reason it relieves the pressure to want to eat something. I think because it let's you indulge in the fantasizing and the planning, but since it's happening "tomorrow" you don't cheat that night. When the next day rolls around, in the morning I'm usually fine so there's no desire to cheat at that time, and then at night I'll do the same thing "I'll cheat tomorrow." Of course, tomorrow never comes. So in your mind it's not like "ugh, I have to stick to this for four months." It's always, "I just need to do this until tomorrow." And you say that everyday.

This is like the reverse of what dieters normally do. "I'll start tomorrow." How often have we said that? Now we are going to use our procrastination for us rather than against us. We're going to put off breaking our diets.

16 Again, another train of though that I use when dealing with temptations is I say to myself, "I CAN have it, but I DON'T want it." This way I am in control and not depriving myself b/c I'm telling my brain that I can have whatever I want, I just really don't want it.

Dasher, thanks for the helpful direction. By the by, I had to go back to the start of the challenge and read what this whole book thing is about -- AND it's BRILLIANT!! (Not quite sure I understand the Daily Average Calories though, when what you are eating in a day comes in at such a smaller total... but I ain't no mathematician)

Snow White your words are also wise. I really could do with a bit of "putting off until tomorrow what I could do (eat) today Twisted Evil . (Gee, wouldn't procrastination be a great skill in the diet world?).

The Average Daily Calories is what I've averaged from the start of my diet. Since I know it's ultimately going to be an average of 600 calories per day at the end of my 100 days, knowing what the average has been so far allows me to know if there are more big meals coming up or small meals coming up the rest of the way. It's needlessly complicated, but give me something to think about food-wise other than eating.

Debbie...I'm sure I saw that on the same documentary and it has been working for me...keeping me a pure vegan for over 2 months now! "I can have it, but I don't want it." Plan: Vegan 10 bites 2X/day (1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons= 10 bites)

10 days until the final weigh in for my 100 day challenge! I'm trying hard to lose 7.2 more pounds to be at an even 170...then on to the birthday challenge!

I made some vegan cheese sauce and mixed it with rotel and it was incredible! I'm finding that you can find or make a substitute for just about anything with the vegan lifestyle. No suffering or feelings of being deprived involved whatsoever.

I have no idea what my weight is.. I think I am under 200 now, so about 8lbs down.. Oct 30 I will pick up a new scale for the WI on the 31 to see how much I managed.. Very Happy

I kind of think today's weight was a fluke, but I wanted to post it anyway!
3 more weigh-ins and this challenge is done for me. I wanted to make it to 170, but it will be okay if I don't. I have only had a couple of binge sessions in the last (almost) 100 days. I have not engaged in prolonged fasting, starvation, or any chewing and spitting of food. These are all major accomplishments for me. I believe the vegan diet combined with 10 bites is helping me break my food addiction. Next stop: birthday challenge.
