Hey everyone!!! Thanks so much for the support! I'm back for real now. The protein shake & salad thing did not work for me. I'm back to old fashioned 5 bites!

Messed up yesterday and today...but still lost...may have a gain tomorrow from messing up today. I don't think my bites were big enough at lunch today and I got the shakes really bad which made me eat. I know I should not have, but I did. I will try to eat more perfectly tomorrow.

I ordered the new edition of the book...had the old one. Looking forward to rereading it and hopefully the new edition includes some additional information!

I will try to catch up with everyone this weekend!

Looking forward to completing this journey with all of you, even the ones who read and don't post...we're all in this together!

Sometimes we need to take a break on the weekends and on special occasions. Then we continue our journey on Monday. I really like the way herbsgirl allowed herself more bites on sundays.

I am glad to be back and hoping that I am really ready this time.
There is truly no trick to this! I just need to buckle down and do what I need to do and quit allowing myself to fail. This is the only thing that I allow myself a pass on & I've just got to quit doing that.

Ok! So Phil (administrator) fixed my login for me so I can post back to this journal!!!

As I look back I have been pretty stuck in this same place for like a year. Terrible! I'm going to try to be more committed to this process and just get this done, NOW!!!

I have been incorporating regular exercise, walking, for about a month. It has not helped at all with the weight loss, but I know that it is good for me. My goal is 10,000 steps per day and I'm actually getting that done most days. I've had a Fitbit in my closet for 2 years and I got a new battery for it and I am using that and having some competitions with people that also have one using the app for iPhone. It's pretty cool and helps me be more accountable for getting those steps in.

I'm combining 5BD with the Weigh Down Diet. The Weigh Down Diet has been around for a long time and I have been successful with it in the past. However, I never did have the desire to eat more food completely erased as the program touts you can do. Maybe I'm more emotionally ready to hear the message and take hold of it now. With WWD you wait until you hear/feel your stomach growl before you actually eat. This makes a lot of sense to me to wait for this signal from my body and this part of it is actually quite easy to do. The second part is where is gets rotten in Denmark!!! The second part is when you do eat, you only eat "just enough." Then you wait for the growl. Even eating a pretty small amount of food, I only get the growl once per day. So my thought is that if I just wait for the growl, then eat only 5 bites that I can drop this weight in much more consistent manner. Also incorporating the brain changing that I need to remove the desire to overeat can't hurt! I do want to say that WWD says you should absolutely not combine this with any other diet or program, but I'm really struggling here so I'm going to give it a try.

Rereading the book today!

Will be waiting on the stomach growl to eat.

Got the first growl right about 12 noon so that worked out good that I could eat lunch at a regular lunch time.

Reading the book I came across this..."your hungerstat is continuously adjusting to a new volume based on the largest amount of food that you have eaten over the previous three days."
That must be why it's so difficult to get back on plan after overdoing it. He says if you're hungry, you need to reset your hungerstat. After 3 days, your brain tells your stomach that it's full. So I'm thinking that in order to reduce suffering with this diet, measuring your food is probably a good idea. As I write this I'm being real here that every Friday night we always go out and eat Mexican food and I just can't 5 bite that meal. But I will wait for the growl and I will not eat again until I hear the growl.
