Hello Very Happy

I am a long time lurker here and decided to join in for some accountability on my part. I do have a food journal but I believe that showing it to the world will somehow help me finish this race Razz

To start, here's my stats:

Height: 4'11"
LW: 85 lbs.
HW: 130 lbs.
CW: 114 lbs.

I am really tiny so every pound shows Embarassed My highest weight happened when I was pregnant. Before that I was 85 pounds with no efforts on my part. That sounds very low but I am really short and when you see me, you would never guess my weight would be that low. Anyway, I got back at 85 lbs. after 3 weeks! I did that with counting my bites because I don't want to count calories, ever Razz I have never read the book at that time too, it was just a habit of me to count bites. I would never go over 20 bites.

Everything was fine until I moved to the United States. I ballooned up to 128 lbs. without changing my diet except my portions are bigger than it used to be. So I tried counting my bites again and went down to 88 lbs. Unfortunately I hurt myself doing a lot of back flips (I am a hip hop dancer and choreographer wishing to be a ballerina but that is another topic all together) and gained up to 114 lbs. because I have to literally swallowed my food in front of my love ones Rolling Eyes I have found this diet when one of the guest at the hospital was reading it and I researched about it and it led me to this website. I have read the book and loved it! Still loving it actually.

So, I am out of the hospital and just on outpatient visit. I can totally do this now. I CAN stick to 10 bites a day. I am always positive about this, that's why I have that title in my journal. If you don't believe you can do it, no one will I love you

Sorry for the long first post. Also, English is not my first language so please bear with me Very Happy I will start tomorow with 5 bites but will probably have some 1/2 cup of blended tofu in the morning (sometimes) like I'm used to. So far my question is about the bites. Do you guys just have bites or do you measure it with 1/4 cups like from what I've read on this forum?

I am glad you are out of hospital.. yay for you getting better.. You can do this.. I am 5'6 the dr website says I should be around 114.3.. so you most likey should be around the 85 area.. you go for it.. cheers

In the book, it says that my lower BMI is around 92 lbs., but I know I am comfortable around 85-88 lbs. More than that, I will feel bloated and I don't like that feeling so I am aiming for 85. As what Leigh Peele said, "Be lean enough to like yourself bloated" Very Happy

I am assuming most of you just count your bites and do not measure your foods (like using a 1/4 cup), so I decided to just do what I had been doing from the start and that is to just count my bites Razz

Anyway I just had my lunch and will update my journal later tonight.

Today was hard because it's that TOM Embarassed I hope it gets better tomorrow Very Happy

I just can't give up my morning tofu smoothie Razz I think I"ll have them tomorrow again, and also another sushi dinner Very Happy

I also WI everyday because I like seeing my weight trends. I don't have any emotional attachment with any numbers that will come up every morning!

Welcome Yuki!
I just count bites and have never measured but I know lots of people will use a measuring cup if they think their bites are too large and I wouldn't worry about the tofu smoothie as your weight is dropping even with it.. if you stall or something you can always worry about cutting it out then Smile

Looking at my food logs, I remember when my husband says I eat disgusting foods Laughing I miss him so much and can't wait for my project to be finished and go home Very Happy

I am glad I lost .4 lbs. today. That means I don't have to give up my morning smoothie...yet Laughing

It's 3 AM here but I woke up to drink some water and checked this forum Laughing

I wish and I am experiencing ketosis but I doubt it. It must be from my dancing. It wasn't even intense dancing, but I guess I can only do so much for now.

Oh well I need to go back to sleep because later is going to be busy Smile

Maybe if I don't have morning smoothie or the likes, the weight loss would be faster but I prefer to follow my body cues. It tells me when I need energy Very Happy

My grandma cooked me some food today and I spent the rest of the day with her so I did more than just 10 bites Razz I'm not upset about it though. I don't get to spend much time with her so I indulged a little bit Very Happy

Hi & welcome to the forum! I've out of town and just got back and read all of your posts in your journal. I have measured in the past with a 1/3 cup measure and notice absolutely no difference in weight loss when I just take 5 bites, even 5 big bites. I don't eat the Snickers bars b/c I'm just don't like sweets that much. But we came up with the 1/3 cup measurement based on the size of the Snickers bar. The Snickers is extremely calorie dense per bite, so I think it didn't make that much of a difference measuring for me b/c my food was much lower calorie and I think measuring actually caused my body to go into starvation mode. The leg cramps will happen when you are in solid ketosis and can be pretty intense at times. If you find yourself struggling with hunger/feeling hungry you might want to consider eating less rice and bread and eating more veggies, protein, nuts, & dairy. You are doing great on the diet and losing weight! Keep on going and do what works for you! Good luck!!! Very Happy

Thank you Snow White. I am Asian and been eating rice since I started eating solid foods. And yeah, it's white rice too. I never experienced any problem eating it. The bread is just 1 piece so I don't think it will cause some problem too Very Happy I also tried the Paleo diet for 30 days and nothing happened. By that I mean, it did nothing for me, no health benefits at all. I do thank you though for your suggestions. I never had problem with hunger. My problem is the occasional eating my loved ones cooked food for me. I just can't turn them down, I only see them once a year Very Happy The leg cramps I think was from too much stretching. I was frustrated because I can't dance for a while so I did a lot of stretching to prove myself I can still do it Twisted Evil

I can't thank you enough for your input about measuring the 5 bites. I also just go by my bites unless I feel like eating soup and then I measure it Razz

Hi I am glad to see you are still doing so well.. Ive been busy but just read up on your posts.. I think on days when you go over to grandmas you must eat.. Oh dear they worry the most if you dont..lol.. glad to see it did nto shake your weight loss to bad.. snow is right if you wish to be fuller longer eat more protien.. Again you are doing great.. keep it the great work!!
