I just started yesterday. I am tweaking a bit with a cup of hot chocolate in the morning and a cup of smoothie when I get home from work.
I am planning a trip to an island in February with my niece and really don't want to look like this in my swimsuit.
I am 186.6 today and really want to be at least into the 160s by February!

Welcome aboard! You can do this, just try to stay motivated even if it's not always easy, but we are here for you, and you'll look great in your swinsuit!

So, your plan is to have 5 bites for lunch & dinner, add a hot chocolate and smoothie in the afternoon. That should work fine depending on your smoothie. What do you like to put in them.
I used to drink coffee w/chocolate creamer in the morning and I always have a cocktail at night and I lost doing that. The key to this plan is consistency. If you do it everyday, you will lose weight. You will meet your goal in no time. It is difficult, but it works!
Post what you weigh and eat everyday...that helps keep me accountable.

Thank you for the welcome, ladies! Today was okay, except that I was FREEZING by afternoon. I shouldn't complain - usually I'm having hot flashes all day, so this was actually a nice change.

L: 5 bites chocolate bar with almonds
S: 1 cup smoothie (water, spinach, banana, blueberries)
D: 5 bites deviled eggs
I've been reading about everyone's successes and am feeling really inspired to do this!

When my weight was 180 I also had hot flashes and I couldn't understand why it happened. Every time I walked more than 10 minutes, I used to sweat like I had run. But once I lost about 20 pounds, no more hot flashes, no more sweat. So, I think this might be related to our weight.

I also think those hot flashes are weight related. When my mom went through menopause, she had not a single hot flash. She is also 5'9" but weighs 112 lbs. Most of the thin women I know never had them. Maybe my new goal should be to "beat the heat!"

LOL.. I did not know that.. wow.. I am starting my meno and it has not been that bad.. a few warm spells but nothing to bad yet.. Yay Good luck... keep going..xo

I have suffered w/hot flashes for years, but they are much better now that have lost some of the weight. I would love to be in that 112 range! That would be awesome!
What are the measurements you are using on the smoothie. I'm getting a Ninja blender for Christmas and want to see what I can do without messing up my weight loss.

For my smoothies, I use a Vitamix and put in 2 cups water, 2 bananas, 6 oz frozen spinach, and 6 oz frozen blueberries. It makes enough for almost three 16 oz servings. My husband has a huge glass and I have 8 ounces.

D: 5 bites calzone at Italian restaurant
Food-wise, this was a really easy day. My pants already fit better, which helps motivate me. I even pulled out a couple of pair from my "doesn't fit" box that I haven't been able to wear since last spring. I went out to Italian food with my husband and had 5 bites of my calzone and was completely satisfied. It is amazing how little food we really need to be satisfied. I haven't told my husband that I am counting bites; I just told him that I am going to be eating less to lose weight. He is naturally thin and a light eater; he only had a couple bites more than I did at dinner. Usually I am really embarrassed that I eat like a horse and he barely touches his food, so it was nice to feel so normal at dinner tonight!

Thanks for the support, ladies! I was just online, looking at vacation options - my niece and I are vacationing for a week on the beach in Roatan, Honduras in February. I am SOOOOO motivated right now to lose weight before I go. I will put on a swimsuit and have fun regardless, but it sure would be nice to be 20-30 pounds lighter!
