Hi. I'm a 26 year old wife and stay at home mother. I've been battling with BED for the past 10 years, and have just discovered 5BD. My main motivation for doing this, apart from wanting to lose weight, is to get a hold of my binging, get it under control. And also for my family. I want my husband to have a thin wife he can be proud of, and want my daughter to grow up not being embarrassed of her mother.

So I'm starting tomorrow, it's already 9:30pm here. I'm scared and excited at the same time. I've failed on so many diets because of my BED, and I don't want to add this to my long list of failed diets.
I also hope i've come to the right place for support and motivation, cause Lord knows I need it!

Something that really really helps me is to eat each bite about a minute apart or so average. I use Eat Slower Pro app on my iphone and it rings each time I need to take a bite. This way, I cant just binge. I have to stop and think do I really want to do that? And almost always the answer is no, I want to stop eating!

Welcome! I also suffer from BED and, like herbsgirl, found that timing my bites really helped a lot. I did that before I started 5 bites. Now it is just habit. I also made advantage response cards, ala The Beck Diet. Basically, you write down all the reasons you want to lose weight on a set of index cards and go through them several times a day to remember why you are doing this.

I can't time my bites. If i prolong them, that'll just make me want to eat everything in sight. So i just eat and get it over and done with. And try move on and forget about eating.
