Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
I think you're doing great and love your positive attitude. You were not the only one who "abandoned" the diet on Father's Day
. But it doesn't matter as long as we are still here and keep on doing this till we reach our purpose.

Thanks for the support lovelies! We can definitely all do this. Even when I do have a few more bites, like today, I still feel pretty good and in control, which is great.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
Yay, thank you Claire. I do feel a lot more in control than last year, even when I have more bites. A lot more positive overall.
Yesterday I decided to go for a 1.5hour walk. BAD IDEA in terms of hunger. It made me starving for the rest of the day. I ended up having 10 more bites and that still didn't help. And then, to make matters worse, this morning my scale stopped working, so I couldn't even check if the walking cancelled out the 10 extra bites or if i had gained some. I doubt I gained much if at all, but i still need to know. AAGGGGGG. Hopefully I'll have time today to go buy another 9v battery.

Day 6: 63,3kg/139,6lbs (12 bites)
Day 7: 62,8kg/138,5lbs (20 bites)
Day 8: NO SCALE (17 bites)
Today I ended up eating the following:
Breakfast: nothing
Lunch: 5 bites Activia with ground flaxseed, 1 tsp peanutbutter
snack?????: 2 bites sardines
Dinner: 7 bites Nandos Hot Pot, 2 bites roast chicken
I can't wait for winter to be over, I just seem to be so much hungrier than normal. I need to get these bites under control, I can't carry on like this! ugggggg. I'm actually really scared to weigh tomorrow

Hi Blaq,
I think it's great that you're doing some cardio. When I started mine this week, I walked for 30 mins at a moderate pace and although I'm not officially weighing in until Saturday, I have sneaked a couple of peeks at the scale and it's definitely moving down. Your hard work will pay off and hopefully the hunger will pass.

I really hope it does. I walk first thing in the morning when I wake up and its really making me famished.
Thinking about stopping until I get to goal, will see how tomorrow goes, but today was not so good bite wise.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
So, I've decided to lay low on the walking for a while, until I get my hunger under control. I even had a cup of black coffee for the first time in many years. Usually it makes me nauseas but today it didn't and has actually helped me feel more alive and not so lethargic. Hopefully i can continue having coffee in the mornings cause it makes things a lot easier until lunch time.
And I'm happy cause even after the last 2 days going way over my bites, I've still managed to lose a little. Yay
Breakfast: black coffee with stevia
Lunch: 5 bites Activia with ground flaxseed
Snack???: 1 tsp peanut butter
Dinner: 5 VERY LARGE bites roast chicken on gluten free bread
Day 1: 63,9kg (140,9lbs) - 15 bites
Day 2: 63,9kg (140,9lbs)
Day 3: 63,3kg (139,6lbs)
Day 4: 62,8kg (138,5lbs) - didn't count, next days weight shows
Day 5: 63,7kg (140,4lbs)
Day 6: 63,3kg (139,6lbs) - 12 bites
Day 7: 62,8kg (138,5lbs) - 20 bites
Day 8: NO SCALE - 17 bites
Day 9: 62,3kg (137,3lbs)
I really need to get the sizes of my bites under control, dinner was just ridiculous!!!
I've decided that I'm going to allow myself 2ml peanut butter before meals if I'm really hungry and feel like I'm going to take too many bites or take monstrous ones. It seems to be the only thing that really helps me feel satisfied, whether I've eaten or not. So I'm going to try that for the next few days and see if it helps. I won't count the peanut butter in the beginning, but if I see that it is hindering the weight loss then I will count them as part of the 10.
I'm also going to limit the size of my bites by using the same teaspoon for both meals, that way, even if it's heaped, the bites won't be as massive as they have been.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
I did well for lunch but took too many big bites at dinner
Breakfast: black coffee
Lunch: 5 bites Activia
Dinner: 8 bites gluten free burger
+2ml peanut butter before each meal.
The peanut butter really helps, which is why I'm upset about eating too much at dinner. I wasn't even that hungry, I could've easily settled for 5 normal bites.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
I was contemplating not even logging in today to write in my journal, but I know that that would be the beginning of a downward spiral, no matter how bad my day's been. I've had a rough day, and it's resulted in emotional eating, which I'm not proud of. But I am glad that it was not a full out binge, and I still managed to count bites in all the mayhem.

Looking forward to starting a fresh week with a fresh mentality and outlook, and not look back on the failures of this week, or today. I will be in the 50's by the end of the month!!!!
I'm only 7kg (15,4lbs) away from the high end of a normal BMI. I need to do this! I may not be able to control the situations around me, by I am able to control what and how much I eat! I am in control of my weight, and whether or not I get to a healthy weight is all in my hands! It's time to take responsibility and control! No more excuses!

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
My weight has stayed the same for the past few days, so I've decided today that I'll have yoghurt for lunch and supper to try kick me out of the plateau. I was going to do snickers but decided my digestion will be happier with yoghurt, considering there have barely been any bowel movements since starting 5 bites. (TMI)
I'm only hoping the quantity of the yoghurt will help reset my hungerstat.

I'm proud of you and delighted to see your commitment, blaqpepa. Since your bowel movements have decreased, I'm not sure you've reached a plateau. Try to eat prunes. They have a great effect on digestion. Great job!

Perhaps you should have more than 10 bites of Activia during the day or something else besides the yogurt so that you don't feel too weak.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
Only eating Activia yesterday actually helped move the scale a bit, but it didn't seem to help my morale today. I stuck to lunch and dinner, but didn't count, and both sittings were extreme emotional eating. So nothing good to report today.
I wish I knew how to separate myself from the drama around me and not let it affect me so I could concentrate on getting myself to a healthy weight without setbacks and emotional distractions.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
Thanks Claire. I'm not going to let things keep me down. Things may not change, but my reaction to them can.
I've been upset the past couple of days and not counting. But something I noticed today, is that even when I'm not counting, I'm not binging! It's really empowering. Not only because I don't feel the need to, but also because physically I can't. Counting bites has definitely affected my stomach in a great way. It may have been about 20 bites more often than not, but it has still made a huge difference. And the worst that's happened is me maintaining!!!!
So I've decided to be more lenient on myself, and not torture myself everyday for not sticking to 5 bites. I'm going to allow myself 20 bites max, especially during these days when I'm dealing with family and their drama. Just to keep my sanity, and keep a handle on how much I'm eating. If I can still lose with 20max, maybe that'll be my goal, slower, but emotionally easier. My aim will still be 5/5, but I won't melt down if I end up at 20 total.
I also really miss working out, especially my morning walks and kettlebell sessions, so if allowing myself more bites means I won't be dying of starvation from exercising, then it's a win/win.
I've lost 2,4kg (5,3lbs) in 2 weeks, which is better than I've ever lost on any diet, so even if I've had many UP days, I'm still happy.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
Long story short, I've been doing a lot of stress eating these past few days and have gained some weight back. Thankfully not all that I've lost having started 5bd. Weighing daily has been really stressful on me, so I've decided to weigh weekly. I'm also still allowing myself 20bites max a day to make things a little more bearable. So will only be posting my weight every Thursday, but till try check in as much as possible.

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
I think it's a great idea to weigh just once a week. I wish I could do that, but it's impossible not to if there's any scale around me.
I haven't weighed myself during the weekend because I'm always away since I started dieting again.
Stay strong because you're doing great, blaqpepa!

Re: Blaqpepa's Journal
Claire, you know I actually weigh myself everyday, but only come here on Thursday to log the weight. I've tried waiting but I drive myself crazy. Hahahahaha.
So, yesterday I was running around all day and didn't count, and didn't really drink water, so I'm super dehydrated and retained lots of water. Hopefully next Thursday my weight will be down by a lot.
