Starting off on the RIGHT foot...
So.... Im super new to this 5BD thing... I was a little apprehensive, but VERY excited! Finding this forum and support group is just going to make it that much easier to stick with.
A little about myself... I'm 33 yrs old... Married... Have an 11 yr old daughter... Work in Medical Insurance Billing. With that being said, my life is busy and crazy. I sit for at a desk behind a computer for about 85% of my day. I recently purchased a portable stair stepper to keep my feet/legs busy while I'm working... Figured it was better than sitting idle all day.
Growing up I was always very fit and active. I was under 120lbs until I had my daughter. I thought my pregnancy weight would be my highest ever... But boy was I wrong!!! I continued to gain over the years... I hit my highest @ 215 last month. It was very difficult for me to come to terms with this fact. I know that I am the only one that can get me back to where I want to be... And I'm ready to take the accountability for this. So... Here I am!
Today...
B. 1/2 can of slim fast chocolate shake
L. 5 bites of a barbq chicken sandwich
D. Haven't had dinner yet... But it will be 5 bites of something.

Good Day to all!!!
Today is day two on my plan... So far so good. I weighed this morning and I'm down 2lbs! (baby steps are worth celebrating, right???).
I'm starting to figure out that the reason that I'm "fat" isn't because I'm constantly HUNGRY... It's because my mind is so ADDICTED to food... And the wrong kind of food at that. I guess I could safely say that I'm an emotional eater. I eat and snack out of compulsion... Such an awful addiction to have. I once attended an OA meeting, and truly felt like I had found a group of people that truly understood me... I was in awwwwh of their stories and their accomplishments... But when I found out that you have to have a sponsor and speak to them daily about your "plan" for the day and no sugar or flour... YIKES!!! I just couldn't do it. The support group is super nice to have, and I'm very glad that I found you guys here.
Anywho.... Hope everyone has a great day!!!
Day 1: 211.9
Day 2: 209.7

Re: Starting off on the RIGHT foot...
Monday Morning.... Hmm... Friend or Foe... Not quite sure. My day is just starting and I just wanted to take a second to reflect on my past couple days of progress.
I have been doing pretty well at sticking to the 5 bites... I have been allowing myself to eat whatever I want, but only 5 bites of it. I figured once I do this for a couple of weeks and allow my body some time to adjust, then I'll add in a low fat diet to it. Sunday has hands down been the hardest day for me so far. Sunday's are usually my "lazy/rest sit on the couch watching Lifetime movies snacking on EVERYTHING and maybe folding some laundry inthr process" day. So... Yah... Yesterday was a struggle for sure. I did make myself get up and do some housework and get some time outside. I also allowed myself a couple of movies but no snacks. Just water and a diet Pepsi... (like I said in my previous post... Baby Steps)

Welcome to the 5 bite world. Look at you go. You will be to your goal weight soon if you stick to the diet. It amazes me that our bodies burn fat pretty easily when you eat the lower portions. I am also and emotional eater as well hints why I did so poorly eating over the weekend. Best of luck on your journey can't wait to see your progress.

Re: Starting off on the RIGHT foot...
Welcome! I had no idea that OA requires no flour or sugar. That seems a bit extreme. Even though 5 Bite may be extreme, we don't have to eliminate entire food groups. Food addiction is so tough since we can't give up food.
I'm also an emotional eater, and find it so easy to just snack constantly. When I'm not eating, I want to chew on something. I was a nail-biter until I was a teenager. I stopped then because I wanted pretty nails, but then I started biting the sides of my fingers and the inside of my lips/mouth. I chew gum too, but it just isnt' the same. I still chew my lips alot, but I hope I can eventually stop that. I know it's unattractive and bad for my teeth, etc., but it's so hard to quit.
Great start on the 5 Bite Diet!

Re: Starting off on the RIGHT foot...
So yesterday was a rough day @ work. Pretty stressful and demanding. Im currently having some personal issues with one of my "good friends" and it's taking it's toll. I really debated on posting my food log from yesterday, because im not proud of it. BUT... This is all about accountability and facing the good days and the bad days and learning from them both. Right?
B: strawberry yogurt (individual yoplait
L: 5 bites Carls Jr cheeseburger & unsweetened iced tea
D: 2 small slices pizza...(UGHHHH!!!)
Not my proudest... But my portions were till much smaller than I normally would have done.
Day 1: 211.9
Day 2: 209.7
Day 3: 208.8
Day 4: 208.4
Day 5: 207.8

Re: Starting off on the RIGHT foot...
Nice job on limiting the pizza, that is totally one of my big weaknesses!!! This is the beauty of 5 Bite, even if we eat a few more bites than 5, we feel full much faster than we used to. Not much longer till the 190's! Exciting!

Re: Starting off on the RIGHT foot...
I also helps me realize how little food I really need to get by on compared to how much food I used think was perfectly acceptable to eat! You're doing so well and you will be under 200 in no time! : )))))) I know that is a huge milestone and you will feel so good when you reach it...I know I did! : ))))))))))))

Re: Starting off on the RIGHT foot...
Today was not to bad. I'm exhausted... Super tired and Super tired. LOL! My day was kind of all the same routine as the day before. I'm doing pretty great wih my 5 bites. I'm going to plan on dropping breakfast ( or at least replacing food with calorie free liquids) next week. This week, since it's my first week, I'm allowing myself to adjust to the portion control.
