Re: Spryng into my journey with me
Marc, yep just today and next week that I have fridays off then it's back to the normal mon-fri work routing, LOL I just had a ton of vacation days to use before the end of this year. So it's been nice for sure What kind of book are you writing? I've been working on an idea for a novel for awhile now, like years, LOL it's still marinating in my imagination, LOL But someday when I have more free time it will get down in print. DH is doing ok on low carb, he's down a few lbs but tends to go off plan from friday to monday's these days so it kinda hinders his progress. I wish sometimes he'd take it more seriously but I know we all do it when we are ready and maybe it's just not his time but he hasn't quit so that is progress in itself I guess, LOL
Tomorrow is weigh in so I'm hoping for good results!
Todays meals:
B-nothing
L- 5 bites taco salad
D- 5 bites chicken sandwich

WOW!!!! You have done such an amazing job with your diet progess. I remember when I first found this forum right after learning about the 5 bite diet and your journal was the deciding factor on really pursuing the diet. You should be proud of yourself for everystep you have taken with this diet (yes, even Thanksgiving) I am so excited for you to reach your final goal and I still look forward to your journal entries.

Hi Spryng,
I'm so Happy for you! You Da Bomb!
As I said above silence discourages me. I seem (in some way) to be a thread killer. I appear to have stopped people from posting even into their own journals, since Thursday .
But you keep going so I'll keep posting.
Yeah, I'm writing a novel. A sort of existentialist-religious, action/adventure, celibate-romance between a hermit and a small western border-town. Can't imagine why I seem to be stuck on the first paragraph...
Anyway, don't think of "Slow." Just know that "Steady Wins the Race"
Peace,
Marc

Re: Spryng into my journey with me
Well this is my last post until monday probably, my parents, nieces and nephews will all be here soon, I have about 3 hours to work then I'm off so I went ahead and weighed in a day early this week. I'm only down .2 lbs.. a little disapointing but I'm sure it's because I lost almost 2 lbs last week, that is unusual for me so it's balancing out with a smaller week this week, but at least it's a loss! I'm 142.6 so every ounce does add up!
Well I wish you all a wonderful holiday! I don't plan on going crazy the next two days but I'm definitely not counting so next week I'll be back on plan with a vengence, LOL Yak with you later!

Re: Spryng into my journey with me
As much as I love the holidays I also love to see them go, LOL so glad all the big holidays are now over and I can settle back into a normal routine especially when it comes to eating. I think I've mentioned on here before about my stomach problems.. I have an appointment with a specialist for the end of next month to poke and prod me for answers but I think I may have found it on my own. Throughout months of scouring the internet for people with symptoms like mine I have finally found some answers! I think I have celiac disease. Now this is just a self diagnosis and I have no M.D after my name but after speaking with others who have it and what they experianced I'm 99% sure that is my issue as well and the best news is it's completely treatable with diet alone. No pills needed. So for the next 14 days I'm going 100% gluten free to see if that helps me or not. If it doesn't then I know it's not celiac disease and I can keep my appointment for extensive testing at the end of january and if it does clear up my stomach problems then I will cancel that appointment and just continue on the gluten free path. I bought some books as well, the g free diet and the Wheat Belly and they were both very informative! The Wheat Belly book will open your eyes on wheat and what it is we are consuming today, the wheat today is not your grandma's wheat she used to eat, LOL So incorporating gluten free with my 5 bite diet will be easy enough, just eat 5 bites of non gluten products! I'm still learning the ins and outs of what is gluten and how to read a label to discern if there is gluten in something or not so bear with me as I try this. If you see something and know it contains gluten please let me know! I'm just a beginner, LOL But from hearing and reading about other people's experiances another pro to gluten free is how easy weightloss is once it's removed from your diet. People shed weight quicly and effortlessly without even trying to lose weight so how will it translate to a person who is TRYING to lose weight? I'm excited to find out. So hopefully in the next few days I not only feel better physically as my stomach starts to heal itself but my weightloss picks up and comes off even quicker So anyway, sorry for the novel today, LOL Just glad to be back on track and have a plan for both my continued weightloss and my over all health. I'll be back on later to post todays meals. I've had my 5 bite lunch but not dinner yet so I'll post them both later. Have a great day!

Re: Spryng into my journey with me
I got off 4 hours early today from work.. my family left to go home this morning and I thought I needed a few hours out of the house from the long Holiday weekend. So I hit the library and checked some gluten free books out. I know I'm a bit obsessed right now but I'm really trying to learn the ins and outs of this way of eating. I also have a bad head cold.. making me tired and irritable so getting out of the house was nice and needed
So my meals today:
B-nothing
L- 5 bites beef taco (with cheese in corn tortilla)
D- 5 bites ham and beans
Again, all gluten free. So far I haven't felt any withdrawels from no gluten. I'm thankful for that. I'm hoping my body responds well and I start feeling different in a few more days or sooner!

Re: Spryng into my journey with me
Still no withdrawal symptoms from lack of gluten, I'm so thankful for that. I did wake up pretty energetic this morning and have felt good all day, I hope it's the beginning of me feeling human again after 1 1/2 years of fatigue and stomach problems.

Re: Spryng into my journey with me
I'm down a total of 26 lbs on the 5 bite but 32.2 lbs total since I started losing weight at the beginning of summer. I started the 5 bite diet on august 1st. So it may not seem like a lot in 4+ months but I'm such a slow loser than it's been amazing to me, LOL I'm hoping now with cutting out all gluten that the weightloss will pick up as my metabolism heals. Every ounce really does add up each week so never despair!

Re: Spryng into my journey with me
Today has been crazy! My little chihuahua Sadie was attacked by a rottweiler at 6am this morning and she's at the vet.. I don't know what her prognosis is yet... suffice to say I've been worried all day and it's been emotionally draining..
As far as the 5bite, it's been fine.
B-nothing
L- 5 bites chicken fried rice
D- 5 bites chicken tacos in corn tortillas
Its harder to go gluten free than I was thinking.. I was wanting to make salsa chicken for dinner but I turned the bottle of salsa over and it says it may contain wheat! what? then even just making the chicken I was trying to find some other seasonings and things like Cumin (may contain traces of wheat) Garlic salt (may contain traces of wheat) Chicken seasoning ( contains wheat crumbs) it's crazy! I'm gonna have to find some spices that 100% is gluten free already, so I had to settle for salt and pepper but it was still good. But I think by alleviating gluten I may also be allergic to soy.. I had the chicken fried rice for lunch with gluten free soy sauce but it was making me itch an hour later, really itch! It did it yesterday after dinner as well.. I did read that most people with a gluten intolerance 50% of them will also have reactions to other things like milk, soy, etc so maybe I fall in that category, so after today no more soy sauce for me and I'll watch labels with soy in them more closely too. But overall I am feeling physically better! I'm sleeping so much better, my skin looks fantastic (they did say that is the #1 thing you'll see an immediate change in) and I have more energy during the day...so I'm 4 days into this gluten free plan, 10 more to go before I draw any real conclusions but I do think its exactly what I needed, but we'll see.

Re: Spryng into my journey with me
So glad it's Friday! My little doggie is home but she has drains in her and has to go back for surgery on tues.. sigh.. I feel so bad for her. But it's nice for her to be home for a few days.
Meals today were good:
B-nothing
L- 5 bites chicken tacos in corn tortillas
D- 5 bites cheese and avocado omlet (was in the mood for breakfast, LOL)
So tomorrow is weigh in day, I'm looking forward to it. I tried on a pair of size 8 jeans this morning and the fit! A little snug but they zipped and everything but they must be from 1995 because they look silly, LOL High waist and everything, it was a blast from the past, I must have given away my other size 8 jeans and those lingered over the years. So I figure in a couple weeks I'll go shopping for a more "current" style in a size 8 but it's so nice to know I'm finally finally getting out of the double digits! So I'll be on in the morning to post my weigh in
