My weight seems to be going back and forth the last couple days, probably time to lower bite count again. My average bites last week

were around 23 bites  a day.

4 wks November 11, 2013 194.4 lbs 40 bites per day average 5.6 lb loss
5 wks November 18, 2013 192.2 lbs 36 bites per day average 2.2 lb loss
6 wks November 25, 2013 191.8 lbs 34 bites per day average .4 lb loss
7 wks December 2, 2013 185.4 lbs 33 bites per day average 6.4 lb loss
8 wks December 9, 2013 182.2 lbs 23 bites per day average 3.2 lbs loss

scales said 181.2 this morning. 37 pounds down in 8 weeks 1 day.

I got the bookWhy Wieght Around? in the mail yesterday. I was inspired yesterday to take my bites to 15. Today, Lord Willing, I am going to do 10 bites. The doctor explains everything in there.

That sounds pretty rough, girl! I would do 5 & 5 so you feel more full and can stick with it. Let us know how it goes! If you only eat 10 bites a day you should start dropping about a pound a day easily! The measuring works well for me because my bites can be huge!

Actually when I do 1/2 Tablespoon of peanut butter as one of my bites at each meal, I am not very hungry really. The peanut butter naturally suppresses the appetite for up to 12 hours, and I truly believe it works. I think its the only way I can stick to it, is to add peanut butter to my meals daily. Each bite of peanut butter is about 40-50 calories.

I try to keep my bites more normal sized, like around 1 Tablespoon give or take (except Peanut butter I m easure out around 1/2 Tablespoon)

When you measure your food, how much is your total daily goal?

I measure a 1/2 cup which is 8 tablespoons...so 8 measured bites...I take small bites of the 1/2 cup of food to make it last longer. I just couldn't stick with the 5 for any long period of time. I think 14 days was the longest I ever made it on 5 bites.

I wish the peanut butter had worked out for me, but it just made me want to binge.

Last night when I had 1/2 cup of broccoli I added 1/2 of a small apple because the broccoli was only about 15 calories.

Snow White- 5 bites is very restrictive I will totally agree with you there! Sounds like you got a way of measuring that works for you! Very Happy 

My weight loss all of a sudden slowed significantly even with only eating 10 bites. I feel smaller, so ? I just cant give up!

The smaller you get, your body will resist giving up that weight. That's why it's easier in the beginning. I think we both are at the point where if we want it, we are really going to have dig our heels in with some determination to do some real battle to get what we want.

I saw this on a documentary about telling yourself out loud that you appreciate your body trying to take care of you and protect you with stored fat, but it's okay, I'm fine and I love you. You don't have to protect me with stored fat anymore.

I dropped to 180 this morning. 38.2 lbs lost in 8 weeks 3 days.   I did one 15 bite day, and 2 10 bite days. I wasn't planning on adding exercise, but I decided to try it and see if it would boost my weight loss.  

Exercising while fasting burns 20% more fat, and then Im supposed to wait at least 60 minutes after exercising before eating. My window opens at 2 pm and closes at 7 pm.  I exercised yesterday before my window opened.  I read to only do 20-30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise while fasting.  I walked one mile with Leslie Sansone dvd

Dr. Lewis says exercise is ok while doing the diet, he says it will just make you lose weight faster because it burns fat. I am cautiously trying it.

Dr. Lewis also says that it is ok to SKIP 5 bite meals if we want to. I haven't seen hardly anyone doing this, but I think that might help bust plateaus.  

ALso Jillian Micheals says to increase calories 1 1/2 to 2 times what you are regularly eating for3 days then go back to eating normally to bust Plateuas.  So for the 5 bite diet it would look like this:

Bust plateau plan 5 bite style OPTION 1


For Example: day 1: 15-20 bites/day (1 1/2-2 times amount of food)   EXERCISE: 3-5 miles
                   day 2: 15-20 bites/day                                                  EXERCISE 3-5 miles
                   day 3: 15-20 bites/day                                                  EXERCISE 3-5 miles
                   day 4 and so on: 10 bites/day

Bust Plateau plan 5 bite style OPTION 2

Eat only 1 meal of 5 bites per day  until scales shows loss, then return to normal eating 10 bites day


Bust Plateau plan 5 bite styleOPTION 3


Start out with replacing one bite or more at a time with low calorie food such as apple or vegetable. For example I normally eat calorie dense foods for my 10 bites. Cheesecake Hot Pockets, sausage ect ect. So by replacing a bite or two (increasing as necessary) of calorie dense food with low calorie food, such as a bite of apple, a bite of spinach, ect, this will in essence speed up weight loss.  Then go back to normal eating when the weight drops.


Also Increasing exercise a lot during those 3 days would be another good plateau busting strategy! I think Spryng did the bite shifting thing.

IN recap.....So a good plan when the scales seems stuck for a few days... would be to either 1) skip a meal and just do 5 bites (Dr. lewis says this is fine)  until the scales goes down OR 2) bite shift (see above plan) for 3 days while exercising a lot more, then return o 5 bites. or 3) replace some bites of calorie dense food with low calorie food increasing as necessary, then go back to normal 10 bites when weight drops. For some reason, I think all this shifting around would shake up the metabolism!!!
